German designers Jirko Bannas and Oliver Seltmann have adapted their proprietary Lightwall technology into a vintage photo format creating the Polaboy, an enlarged representation of a Polaroid photograph. I admire the Polaboy’s uniform LED illumination making for a very authentic presentation of the photos, and it’s multiple functions as art, light source and furniture peice. [SwissMiss]

Even though iPhone has a relatively mediocre camera, sometimes you can still capture amazing photographs with the help of Instagram. With the ability to post process and add stylistic filters, this program can take poorly lit and/or incorrectly exposed photos and turn them into impressive pictures. Now at CanvasPop, they are offering a new service to print your favorite Instagram photos on full size canvas to adorn the walls of your home or office. I can think of a few in my Instagram feed right now that would look great printed out. [Uncrate]

The iPhone’s impressive camera has attracted many aftermarket attachments, many of which have under-whelmed and/or under-performed. However, this Camera Lens Dial is an impressive work of design and engineering, providing a fish eye, tele-photo and wide angle lens on an easily selectable knob. The case as a whole appears very well built as well, satisfying the more professional photographer with a precise lens system. (I write that last sentence with a smirk on my face, because I know it’s amusing to think of the iPhone as a professional photography tool, haha.) [Uncrate]

For all the Instagramers out there that wish there was a way to access your account on a computer, I introduce to you Statigram. This new interface is designed to allow complete access of your Instagram photos just like on the iPhone app, but now through the internet browser on your computer. You are also able to view special statistics about your photographs and can comment and “like” your friends photos just as in the iPhone app.

For all the instagramers out there, a new service called Blurb will bring your favorite vintage photographs to print. By simply logging into their service, Blurb accesses your instagram account and compiles your most liked photos into an actual book. Available in soft or hardcover, your photos will be brought to life in high quality book print.

The iPad’s ever growing toolbox of capabilities has taken a big step in the music world. Griffin has developed the Djay audio cable which gives the iPad two audio outputs enabling the device to function as a DJ would use their external mixer. One serves as the main output, and the second is used to preview the next track in cue. This hardware innovation will open the door to software developers to create a plethora of new DJ mixing programs. Gizmodo]

The emergence of the iPhone as a useful photo and video capturing device has led to several third party accessories enhancing these features. I have found that the most practical of these is the Red Pop iPhone Camera Grip with button. Still under development, the Red Pop transforms the iPhone into a much more ergonomic camera device with a button that has easier accessibility than the touch screen. Many a time while shooting video with my iPhone, I have wanted an easier way to hold it for those longer video captures. My new favorite game for the iPhone is Tiny Wings by Andreas Illiger which follows a tiny winged bird that wishes it could fly. Your objective is to maneuver the bird across of series of hills that propel him into the air to fly from island to island. With a good balance handsome aesthetics, fun music and sound effects, and skillful gameplay that adheres appropriately to the laws of physics, Tiny Wings will provide hours of fun when you got some time to kill.

The iPads portable design has allowed itself to be adapted to a multitude of uses in design, music and business. However, Alesis has provided the greatest transformation of the product by turning into a full fledge midi device with the introduction of additional audio hardware components. The Studio Dock allows artists to take their music creation and performance completely mobile by providing the ability to connect their iPad with professional audio equipment.

A company with a new product generally spends most of their initial budget on advertising and marketing. In a unconventional manner, Default Case has decided to shift their spending from advertising and marketing to selling their new iPhone cases for an extreme discount of $0.01 for a limited time, to quickly and easily get their products in the hands of their target consumer. Their confidence in the quality of their cases has lead them to believe that this strategy will successfully gain them market share for their new product. I just received mine this week, and after using Incase for many years, I am very impressed.

In the evolution of headphone technology, there has always been one problem left unsolved, how to keep earbud cables from getting tangled. These new earbuds from Zipbuds eliminate this concern completely by encasing the cables within a zipper, creating an organized system of extending or contracting them. Very clever, very sharp and very functional.

Breaking out of the monotone stranglehold of Steve Jobs and the Apple Corporation comes the Pantone Universe palette of colorful iPhone covers. No longer must you settle for for black or white because you can adorn your iPhone with the primary colors and even some in between. [Endgadget]
